Case filed against Zilla Panchayat member, 8 aides for murder

Kalaburagi: The city police have registered a case against Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat member Shantappa Kodli and nine others in connection with the murder of contractor Shivaling Bhavikatti.
The 46-year-old contractor was allegedly murdered on Monday night by unknown miscreants near Sharan Shirasagi area in Farthabad police station limits of Kalaburagi.
Addressing presspersons on the issue Police Commissioner M N Nagaraj said that contractor Shivaling Bhavikatti (46) of Mayura village in Jewargi taluk was on his native from Gangapur in his SUV ehen he another SUV rammed his car forcing Bhavikatti to stop his vehicle.
“Shivaling Bhavikatti was then dragged out by the occupants of the other vehicle and stabbed several times. The assailants then fled leaving their car behind,” said Nagaraj.
Nagaraj also informed that the the car, which the accused left behind, belonged to Kodli. As of now, a murder case has been registered against nine people with Kodli as prime accused.
“We have formed teams to nab the accused. Investigation is on. Arrests will be made soon,” he added.
