MCC elections: Cong, BJP release party manifesto

Mangaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Wednesday, November 6 released the manifesto for the MCC elections at the District Congress office here.
Addressing presspersons after releasing the manifesto Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “From past five years the Congress party had given priority for the development of the city. Mangaluru is a prime city after Bengaluru because it is a medical and educational hub. Mangaluru is a holy place and people from all walks of life live here in harmony.
He further added, “This election is very important for the Congress party. The results of the MCC elections in Mangaluru will make a lot of difference. Siddaramaiah government sanctioned Rs 1400 crores. For the South constituency for 38 wards Rs 2,500 crore funds were released. All the earlier projects have been continued and are still under progress.”
“When the Congress government was in power Rs 5300 crore was sanctioned for the MCC. The Congress government had given priority to the Mangaluru city. All our elected members strived hard for the development of the city,” Rao added.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah declined to comment on veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary’s remark that the former was a curse for the Congress party and high command made a mistake by appointing him the Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly.
On the other hand BJP too released District BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor released his party manifesto for the upcoming MCC elections.
Speaking after releasing the manifesto Sanjeev Matandoor said, “People have blessed BJP in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections and we are confident that people will bless BJP in the upcoming MCC elections also. When Yediyurappa was chief minister, the government had released Rs 200 crore and many roads in the city were concretized. People are aware that BJP will show good development works in MCC once we come to power.”
“We have formed this manifesto of BJP for the next five years at MCC. We have conducted the meeting and taken opinions from the public and the changes required in the administration are mentioned in the manifesto. Earlier when BJP was in power in the state and MCC, the government had released sufficient funds,” he added.
