House burgled of Rs 12 lakh gold and cash in Thumbay

Bantwal: In a daylight robbery, unidentified persons broke into a house of former Taluk Panchayath member in Thumbay and made off with Gold and Cash worth lakhs of rupees.
The incident was reported from the house belonging to Somappa Kotian, former member Taluk Panchayath.
As per the sources, the incident occurred between 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. when the occupants had been to a function. The burglars broke into the house from the backdoor and committed the crime before fleeing.
The burglars made away with 398 grams gold, 100 grams silver and cash amount of Rs. 15 thousand from the Godrej cupboard in the house. The total value of the stolen items has been estimated to be Rs. 12.92 lakhs, stated the complaint filed by the Somappa Kotian
A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station and further investigations are underway.
