Christchurch: A photo of a lightning strike close to an Emirates Airbus A-380 from November 20, 2019, at New Zeland has gone viral. This terrifying photo was captured by Danial Currie, a pilot who was also working at the airport the same day.
This photo was posted by GCH Aviation – Garden City Helicopters on their Facebook account captioning this moment as “The View of our window onto the tarmac today! The Emirates plane waiting for the storm to pass.”
This photo was taken when the Emirates flight just touched the runway of Christchurch airport and was in a position to unload. ‘It quite often stops the odd meeting, at work as it comes by, but today with the storm and the time of the lighting, it made for an awesome show’ said Danial Currie in an interview with Stuff.co.nz.
Billie Hammet who was also working on that day said that the planes were waiting to unload but couldn’t because of the weather so they were just waiting for the tarmac for clearance and there were multiple strikes. Everyone was fine but it looked like a close call. It made for an awesome photo.
