Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday announced Rs 50,000 compensation for all the families who were affected by Hulimaavu lake breach incident.
Yediyurappa has also directed officials to develop road, drinking water and drainage systems in the affected area.
As per the sources, the amount will directly be deposited to the bank account of the beneficiaries.
A large number of houses were flooded in Bengaluru’s Hulimavu as water from a lake flooded the area on Sunday after its embankment was damaged. Those who were affected by the lake breach are being provided with food and temporary shelter.
City Mayor M Gautham Kumar said the incident occurred when some people allegedly tried to lay a pipe with the help of an earthmover and the civic body BBMP would investigate about it.
