Man arrested for brandishing gun at NITK toll staff

Mangaluru: A 36-year-old man was arrested by the police allegedly after he brandished a gun at the staff of the NITK toll gate for asking him to pay the toll charges.

The arrested has been identified as Rafique K N, a resident of Kasargod. The car (KL-60H-5500) driven by Rafique as well as the gun used to threaten the toll plaza staff was seized by the police.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at around 12.40 pm when Rafique entered into an argument with a lady staff of the toll gate and refused to pay the toll charges. At this point another operator, Yagnesh Karkera intervened between the two and asked Rafique to pay the toll charges. Angered by this, Raique pulled out a gun from inside his car and dared Yagnesh to collect the toll charges from him.

Suratkal police registered a case under IPC section 502 and Indian arms act section 25.
