Moodbidri: A woman constable, posted on duty at Kadandale Subramanya temple in Moodbidri taluk was allegedly subjected to verbal abuse and was asked to leave the temple premises because she was a Dalit.

The incident took place on Monday when the Shashti festival was being celebrated at the temple. The constable was managing the crowd of devotees inside the temple when the temple priests came to know that she was a Dalit.

The priests are said to have abused her for entering the temple in front of the devotees and asked her to leave. This behaviour of the priests towards the constable is being condemned by the public.

Since the temple attracts several devotees on Shasthi, the Moodbidri police provided security for smooth conduct of the celebration.
