Odiyoor landslide: CM announces compensation of Rs 3 lakh each for kin of deceased, Rs 1 lakh for injured

Belthangady: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday, December 8 expressing concern over the death of three labourers at Odiyoor on Saturday, the said that he had directed the DC to provide Rs 3 lakh each for the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. The money will be provided by the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had visited Dharmasthala and sought the blessings of Lord Manjunatha. Amid chanting of hymns, Yediyurappa performed a special puja in the temple for his party’s (BJP) victory in the polls and successful completion of his tenure in the next three-and-a-half years.

At the end of the rituals, the priest tied a turban around his head.

Speaking to the media in Belthangady taluk he assured help to farmers and declared the construction of vented dams under the ‘Paschmia Vahini’, project. The Chief Minister praised MLA Harish Poonja for his service during the landslides and flood in Belthangady and also thanked the volunteers and the public for their help.

Yediyurappa further oozed confidence about their party winning a majority of seats in the crucial byelections to 15 assembly constituencies

Yediyurappa said the party would win at least 13 of the 15 seats, while the opposition Congress and JD(S) would have to be content with just one each.

We will win at least 13 seats. The Congress and JD(S) may win one seat each. Our party will carry out overall development of the state in the next three-and-half years, Yediyurappa told reporters here.

The Chief Minister said he was optimistic that the Congress and JD(S) would cooperate in helping him run a smooth administration.

“After the government completes its term, BJP will win at least 150 seats in the next assembly elections and come to power again, while Congress will continue to remain in the opposition, he said.
