Mangaluru: Kadri police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old man on charges of puchasing stolen gold ornaments.
The arrested has been identified as Rajendra Pawar.
Pawar’s arrest comes one week after the police nabbed seven persons in connection with October 8 robbery case that took place at Balmatta in the city.
Earlier on December 5, police arrested Rakesh D’Souza, Ashok Pandhrekar, Ganesh Bapu Parab, Janardhan Acharya, Saheer Mohammed, Purushothama Acharya, Chandan Acharya and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 35 lakh from their possession.
The accused reportedly used to sell the stolen valuables to Pawar.
Acting on a tip-off, Kadri police personnel and Anti-Rowdy Squad personnel intercepted an auto in which Pawar was travelling near Besant Junction. Another person identified as Babu, who was with Pawar at the time is said to have obstructed the police from discharging their duty and was thus arrested with Pawar.
