CAA issue: Police lathicharge protestors for violating Sec 144, detain two persons

Mangaluru: City police on Thursday lathi-charged protestors and detained two persons for holding demonstrations near Deputy Commissioner’s office here in the city.

The protests were held despite the prohibitory orders that have been clamped down in the district.

Stones were hurled at policemen following which the police resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation. Several people, including police personnel are said to have sustained injuries.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped down in Managluru till December 21 midnight.
