Mangaluru: After a gap of more than two years, the Mangaluru International Kite Festival 2020 will be held at Panambur beach, from January 17 to 19.
The event did not take place for the past two years due to lack of funds. Few days ago, in a meeting chaired by the district in-charge minister, it was decided to organise the kite festival under the broader banner of Karavali Utsav.
The festival will be begin with a workshop on January 17 morning followed by the inauguration at 4 p.m. This time the kite will be flown in the evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. under floodlights.
The city’s kite festival follows immediately after the much larger International Kite Festival at Gujarat, which will end on January 14. The international visitors who will arrive for the grand event in Gujarat, are also expected to participate in Mangaluru.
Visitors from more than twenty five countries will be given the Karavali’s famed Muttale traditional cap as mementos by the organisers.
