Navy Week 2019: 8,200 people visit INS Vikramaditya carrier in Karwar

Karwar: As part of the ongoing Navy Week 2019 celebrations, Indian Naval Ship Vikramaditya was open to visitors here on Sunday as part of the ongoing Navy Week 2019 celebrations.
“Indian Naval Ship Vikramaditya was open to visitors from 9 AM to 7 PM hours on December 22, as part of the ongoing Navy Week 2019 celebrations. The event saw over 8,200 visitors across all age groups from in and around Karwar,” stated a press release from the Indian Navy.
The press release further added, “The visitors entered through the Naval Base Karwar main gate and were conducted through Naval Ship Repair Yard here to reach INS Vikramaditya. Onboard the ship, the visitors were briefed by ship’s crew about onboard equipment, Aircraft Carrier operations including details of aircraft operated by the Indian Navy and about life at sea.”
“The overwhelming numbers of visitors to the only Aircraft carrier necessitated an extension of visiting hours from the planned limit of 1630 hours to 1900 hours. Extensive participation by children and students served as an opportunity to enhance awareness of the public on the Armed Forces in general and Indian Navy in particular,” the press release said.
