Udupi: In connection with the arrest of Kundapur man in Saudi Arabia for allegedly uploading a provocative post against Islam’s Holy Kaaba site in Mecca, the Udupi district police have requested assistance from Facebook to verify the IP number of the fake Facebook account created in the name of Harish.
Harish’s wife Sumana had approached Udupi superintendent of police Nisha James seeking help for his release. Sumana had claimed that miscreants created a fake Facebook account in Bangera’s name and posted defamatory messages against the Saudi King and Mecca on the page.
It is learnt that the Facebook authorities will soon revert with details, sought by the Udupi police, on the Facebook account created in Harish’s name.
Human Rights Protection Foundation President Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag is coordinating with the district police and Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to ensure the release of Harish. Once it is confirmed that the Facebook account created a second time in the name of Harish was a fake one, Dr Shanbhag would talk to the officials in the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
