Man held for Rs 2 cr bank defraud

Bantwal: Bantwal rural police arrested a man on charges of forgery for allegedly securing an automobile loan by pledging duplicate documents.
The arrested identified as Basheer alias Hassan Bashir (42), a resident of Pumpwell, has been booked under IPC column 420 and 468.
According to the police, Basheer had pledged duplicate documents to secure Rs seven lac from Sumangala Cooperative society in Farangipet. During the investigation, it was found that the accused had defrauded several banks in the district to the extent of Rs two crore.
He claimed to run the ‘Carvan Automobiles’ saying that the company deals in sales of cars of various manufacturers.
Further investigation is on.
