Mangaluru: Two prominent bus operators unions – Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association and Canara Bus Operators Association – have decided to not pay toll at the Talapady and Hejamady toll plazas as a protest against the incompletion of the Pumpwell flyover.
Officials from both the unions told newspersons about this decision on December 31.
D Vedavyas Kamath, MLA from Mangaluru South, supported the move and said that he will visit the toll plazas on January 1 (today) and ask the plaza officials to not collect toll from any vehicles.
Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd., the company contracted to build the flyover, has missed another deadline of December 31 for the completion of the project.
