Dec 19 unrest: Congress, other organizations to stage protest tom

Mangaluru: Former Bantwal MLA B. Ramanath Rai said that Congress and other organizations will sit on a protest on January 2 demanding a thorough investigation into the police firing during the CAA protests and compensation for the victims’ family.

Speaking to the reporters Rai said allegations are being made that the violent incidents which took place during the protests on December 19 was planned by certain political parties and leaders. there are accusations that city police was acting at the behest of the ruling government in clamping prohibitory orders to suppress the protesters and also firing incident that claimed two lives.

Rai demanded an inquiry by a high court judge as he claimed that ongoing magisterial inquiry and Criminal Investigation Department probe will not reveal the true facts.

In addition to the protests, they will also be conducting programs in the coastal region to spread awareness about loopholes in CAA, National Population Register and National Register of Citizens.
