Mangaluru: A chaotic situation prevailed at Thokkottu here on Wednesday evening following a confrontation between BJP activists and shop owners in Thokkottu Smart City commercial complex.
On Wednesday a programme to create awareness on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Registry of Citizens (NRC) by distributing handbills was organised at Thokkotu. However, when the activists approached Thokkottu Smart City commercial complex, the shop owners began shouting Go Back slogans and confronted the BJP activists at the complex entrance saying that they were opposed to the Act.
There was a heated exchange of words following which Ullal and KSRP police rushed to the spot and dispersed both the groups from the spot.
