Dec 19 unrest: HDK accuses govt of siding with M’luru police

Mangaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday released 35 video clippings in connection with the December 19 unrest in Mangaluru city during anti-CAA protests.

Pointing out that though protests were held in other parts of the state, the situation turned violent only in Mangaluru Kumaraswamy said that had police not behaved the way they did, the situation would not have escalated beyond control.

Addressing a press conference here, the former chief minister said that city police commissioner Dr PS Harsha was directly responsible for the violence and demanded his immediate suspension from service.

Alleging that the videos released earlier were fake, Kumarswamy said that the state government of trying to cover up the issue by siding with the police.
