Bengaluru: Eminent novelist and scholar S L Bhyrappa has expressed his support for the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.
Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, he stated that the amended citizenship law is to provide protection to the victims of religious persecution from neighbouring countries and the citizens register will make sure that illegal immigrants spread across the country are sent back.
He also commented on the ways universities are being used as political battlegrounds stating that university students should only study and demand for books and other infrastructure for learning.
He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his works and called him a sanyasi.
