Being wild animals, elephants can be unpredictable and dangerous and when a human threatens to cross its path, things can get ugly.

In a terrifying incident caught on camera, an angry Elephant chased a lorry and ripped its bonnet off at the Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka.

In the video, the truck driver in a desperate attempt to escape the attack starts to reverse the vehicle, while another man in the vehicle films the incident. Michael Dwyer, a Twitter user, shared the 51-second video that has terrified people on the Internet. The driver can be heard screaming in horror while he reverses the truck. Moments later, the elephant rams its tusks into the bonnet of the truck and rips it off.

‘Terrifying chase down yesterday by angry Karnataka elephant rips off truck bonnet with tusks’, Michael Dwyer said in the caption of the post.

The cause of the wild elephant’s rage in this incident is not known. But there’s a possibility that the animal was in ‘Musth’, which means a stage when testosterone soars and males become desperate to mate. At this stage, the animal becomes more aggressive and randomly rages out.

Another possibility could be the growing problem of man-elephant conflict. Human habitation in many areas has hampered spaces where the animals live, and when the pachyderms lose access to these places they rage out.
