Shimoga: Tirthahalli Forest Department officials raided two locations and seized an elephant’s tooth and leopard’s nails. Six people have been detained in connection with these seizures.
Officials raided a location at Nalur village in Chikkamagaluru taluk and found an elephant’s tusk. Village resident Rajagopala and Krishnamurthy from Neratur village have been arrested for the possession of the tusk.
The other raid was at Tumuri village in Sagar taluka where thirteen leopard’s nails were seized. Devaraj, Udaya Kumar, Sudhakara and Navin from the village have been arrested in connection with this.
The accused have been produced before the Thirthalli court.
The raid was led by DFO Nagaraj, ACF Balachandra and other forest officials Sanjaya, Rewanna Siddhaiah, Hiremath, Hanumantaraya, Mahadeva and Ellappa.
