HDK demands govt employee status for KSRTC staff

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday through a letter requested the state government to consider the staff of all the four transport corporations on a par with government employees and fix a standard salary.

Karnataka government should be treated the employees of its road transport corporation on a par with government staff and should provide all the commensurate benefits to them, urged Kumaraswamy in his letter.

“This has been a long-pending demand to consider them on a par with government employees Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa should make an announcement in this regard soon,” added Kumaraswamy.

Kumaraswamy’s letter comes in the backdrop of the protest of the KSRTC employees’ Federation in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday, January 29.

The protesters had said that that the Andhra Pradesh government was treating the employees of its road transport corporation on a par with government staff and had been extending all the commensurate benefits and demanded the CM to make an announcement with this regard in 2020-21 budget.

The protestrors has also warned of intensifying the protest if the demand was not met.
