NHRC to probe Mangaluru police firing deaths

Mangaluru: The investigation into the deaths due to police firing during the December 19, 2019 Mangaluru violence will be transferred to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) from the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) informed KSHRC to the petitioners.
The petitioners who appealed before the KSHRC are the families of the dead, former Mangaluru mayor Ashraf and a Mahila Congress leader Lavanya Ballal.
KSHRC has also denied the petitioners to view the evidence regarding the case as the directives for the transfer to NHRC was already issued to it.
