Mangaluru: A proposal to increase the toll charges at Talapady, in the backdrop of the completion of Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers has been forwarded to the ministry of road transport and highways informed Shishu Mohan, project director, NHAI.

After having missed several deadlines the Pumpwell flyover was finally opened for traffic on January 31 this year, while Thokkottu flyover was inaugurated in June last year.

As these flyovers were completed recently and allowed for the use of commuters, a proposal to hike the toll charges has been been sent to the ministry, which will decide the toll fare for the commuters, said Shishu Mohan.

He however said that the hike will be applicable only for Talapady toll gate and there is no proposal to hike toll charge at nearby toll booths such as Surathkal and Brahmarakootlu.
