Belgaum: Shiv Sena is organising an event in the city to honour those who died in the 1967 riots against the recommendations of the Mahajan Commission.
The event is being organized at the Samrat Ashok circle. Large number of police personnel have been deployed near the venue to maintain law and order situation. The road leading to Basavanna Galli is closed.
Belgaum border dispute is an issue raging since the independence of India. In 1967, the Mahajan Commission recommended that Belgaum must continue to be in Karnataka, this caused riots in the city soon later.
