Silver jubilee of Konkani Sahitya Academy; CM to confer awards on Feb 23

Udupi: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy is organising its annual awards ceremony on February 22 and 23 at Karkala. The academy is also celebrating its silver jubilee year.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will be the chief guest. He will be conferring awards to 25 persons with Konkani as their native language on February 23.

Dr K Jagadish Pai, president of the academy, addressed a news conference on Friday and gave details of the programme.

The event will be attended by MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Sunil Kumar, ‘Taranga’ magazine Managing Editor and honourary president of the Silver Jubilee Committee Dr Sandhya S Pai, Director of the Academy’s Kannada and Culture Department S Rangappa and Konkani writer Gokuildas Prabhu.

The ceremony will be inaugurated by Minister CT Ravi on Sunday, February 22 at 10 am.
