Surathkal: A gas leakage incident has been reported from an ice factory at Kulai in Surathkal on the morning of Monday, February 22.
The gas, alleged to be ammonia, started to leak from the Vijay Ice Factory at 8 am. Several firefighting vehicles and fire officials immediately reached the spot.
Local residents have been evacuated after many complained of breathing problems and itchy eyes. No serious health issue to anybody has been reported yet.
However, many trees around the factory have paled due to the exposure to the gas.
