Chikkamagaluru: In a sensational twist in the gruesome murder of a homemaher in Kadur here, her husband allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train after police suspected his role in his wife’s murder.

Dr Revanth, 35, a dentist by profession ended his life, on Saturday, five days after his wife, Kavita was found dead with her throat slit on February 17.

Kavita, who hails from Udupi had married Revanth around seven years ago and the couple had two children one aged 5, the other being merely 11-month-old.

It is gathered that Revanth was having an extramarital affair with another woman. On February 17 he allegedly murdered his wife in the presence of their 11-month-old son and scattered their belongings to make it look like a robbery. Later in the day he called the police and filed a complaint stating that miscreants had forced their way into his house and murdered his wife and had fled with valuables.

During the course of the enquiry, the police came to know of his extramarital affair. Kavita’s post mortem report revealed that she had been injected with some medicine before being killed and the needle of suspicion came on Revanth. Scared of facing a police enquiry, Revanth committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train ear Bandikoppalu railway gate. His car was found parked near the railway track. His family members identified the body.

A case has been registered at the Arasikere railway police station.
