Puttur: Police detained eight women and four men supposedly touring Beeramale Hill near Puttur on Sunday, February 23.
Reportedly, the women from Mysuru had come to the town for a marriage. A man named Ummer Hasin from Volathadka had brought them to the hill in his car after the wedding ceremony was over. Later other men arrived in another car bearing a registration from Kerala.
When some social activists learned of it they smelt something fishy and arrived at the hill. The police later took the women into custody for questioning.
