Notorious rowdy sheeter killed in Bengaluru police encounter

Bengaluru: Notorious rowdy sheeter identified as Slum Bharath was killed in a police encounter in the early hours on Thursday, February 27.
Bharath, who has been involved in more than 50 cases including murder, attempt to murders was arrested from Uttar Pradesh and was being led to the city by a police entourage of two vehicles when Bharath’s gang of supporters who suddenly came in two cars intercepted the police cars and fired at them near Peenya. When the police were busy protecting themselves, Bharath hoodwinked them and escaped with his gang in their car.
At around 5 am, information was received on the wireless that the vehicle carrying the culprit was found moving near Hesarughatta.
The police later chased him and fired at Bharath near Soladevanahalli. Police said one bullet was shot at Bharath’s leg while another bullet pierced his abdomen. Bharath, who collapsed to his knees after having been fired at, was taken to Saptagiri Hospital. He succumbed to death by his injuries without responding to treatment.
