Man awarded 2 yrs of imprisonment for obstructing policeman from discharging duties

Udupi: First additional chief judicial and JMFC court Judge M N Manjunath awarded two years of imprisonment to a man accused of obstructing a policeman from discharging his duties.
The accused Kiran had allegedly assaulted Imran, the on-duty police man while the latter was escorting him to Malpe police station via Santhekatte.
Imran had spotted Kiran, an accused relating to a case registered on May 7, 2015 and was escorting him to Malpe police station via Santhekatte. However Kiran attempted to escape and when Imran tried to nab him he assaulted him and obstructed him from discharging his duties.
Malpe police registered a case and chargesheet was filed by then Malpe police sub-inspector Ravikumar.
Assistant public prosecutor Mumtaz, had appeared on behalf of the prosecution in the case.
