Meet the seven achievers who took over PM Modi’s social media handles on Women’s Day

On Sunday, March 8 on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister gave access to 7 marvellous women achievers from across the country to his social media handles, as he had tweeted earlier in the week.

The seven women shared their journeys in life and their achievements to all the followers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Here is the list of the seven legends who have inspired us:

1. Sneha Mohandass was the first to take over. She is the founder of Foodbank India, an NGO dedicated to eradicating hunger and malnutrition.

2. Malvika Iyer was the second to take over. She is a bomb blast survivor who lost both her wrists and parts of her forearms in the blast. Even with such daunting disability, she completed her doctorate. This is what she tweeted about being a ‘divyang’ and what she wishes is expected of differently-abled people.

3. Arifa from Kashmir took over next and shared how she strove to revive the almost extinct Namda crafts unique to her disturbance-prone union territory and how it, in turn, helped empower local women there.

4. Kalpana Ramesh, the water warrior, took over next and shared her achievements to make the future ‘water secure’ for our children.

5. Vijaya Pawar, exquisitely dressed in her Banjara apparel, tweeted about her work in promoting her community’s handicrafts.

6. Kalavati Devi from Kanpur tweeted in Hindi her unceasing crusade against unclean and filthy her neighbourhoods. She presented how she collected money and built toilets to bring about a sea change in sanitation practices around her.

7. Veena Devi, from Munger, Bihar, was the last woman to take over and showed how she started mushroom cultivation in 2013 which led to her and many around her to improve their economic situation.
