Govt takes precautionary measures to deal with Coronavirus

Bengaluru: The Karnataka health department has started an intensive drive to combat Coronavirus and has issued guidelines for testing, isolation, hospital admission and discharge in view of Coronavirus outbreak.

As per the guidelines, the sample of any passenger who has travelled to Wuhan city of China in the last 14 days, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic must be collected and tested. Also, the samples of any health personnel who develops symptoms after being associated with infected persons must be collected.

It further says that the sample of any suspect case of Coronavirus will be sent to the laboratory confirmation and the person will be kept under isolation. If tested positive, the treatment must be provided as per the guidelines.

Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that the state government has planned to suspend all the biometric attendance at its offices and in corporate and IT companies. It is said that corporate and IT employees of Bengaluru are advised to work from home as a precautionary measure.

Sources claim that an employee of a healthcare solutions company in Bengaluru has been suspected to be affected by the virus, as a result of which all the employees have been advised to work from home.

It is said that 2,500 beds have been kept ready in Karnataka as precautionary measure. As of now, the government is strictly testing passengers and the suspected ones are quarantined.

Pankaj Kumar Pandey, commissioner of health and family welfare and AYUSH services in Karnataka advised people with fever, persistent cough and breathlessness to immediately contact helpline number 104 and ask for assistance.

Pankaj Kumar said “We will immediately send our team or tell what has to be done. So, we depend more on the information from the public so public has to be aware”

Also, schools in Karnataka have been directed to grant leave to students and staff suffering from cold or fever.
