Mangaluru: The repair works on the old Kuloor bridge has started from Tuesday, March 17 and till the completion of the repairs the new bridge has been opened for two-way traffic.
The first day of the diversion on the new Kuloor bridge caused long traffic lines. Traffic congestion led to vehicles being stuck for a longer time.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh had issued a notification regarding this to traffic police however due to some lack in arrangements traffic management couldn’t go quite as well.
As per the notification, light vehicles, 6-wheeled vehicles and light buses will be allowed on the new bridge and all heavy vehicles such as container trucks, tanker trucks, cranes and trailers are prohibited.
Vehicles moving to and from Bengaluru to Mangaluru must divert at Padubidri-Karkala road while vehicles from and to Udupi must divert at Mulki-Moodbidri road and vehicles to and from Haleyangadi must divert at Kinnigoli- Moodbridri road.
