Charge sheets against 66 in Dec 19 M’luru violence

Mangaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has submitted 2000-paged charge sheet against 66 persons in the court of Judicial Magistrate of First Class in the December 19, 2019 riots.

The chargesheet pertain to two separate incidents on basis of complaints filed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Arungshu Giri at Mangaluru North Police Station and Shantharam, then inspector of Mangaluru East Police Station

In one charge sheet, twenty people have been named for unlawful assembly, rioting, use of lethal weapons, criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder and violation a government officer’s order.

In the second charge sheet, forty six people have been named and are accused of unlawful assembly, use of weapons and attacking the police.

The police might submit supplementary charge sheet as the investigation is still in progress.
