COVID-19: Shut down of Fisheries in the city

Mangaluru: Due to Coronavirus fear in the city, fisheries have been shut down. City’s major fishing area Dhakke is completely closed as the country is now under lockdown.
The fishes that were brought on Wednesday, March 26 were dumped, without being sold. Meanwhile, a few fishermen obtained police permission and took the fish to the nearby fish mill.
All the boats which had gone for fishing are back to the dock and the port is almost quiet. Also, Fishermen who went fishing have been advised to return.
This move comes after District Collector noticed the crowded in the area with 400 boats were in the dock and instructed the Fisheries Department to close the area.
