DK: Bandh to continue on Mar 29, barring essentials

Mangaluru: In a meeting presided by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that a total bandh will be observed for a second consecutive day in the city on March 29.
Poojary stated that apart from essential services all other activities and movement will be banned.
Food provisions stores, refuelling bunks, dairy shops, medical shops and delivery of cooking gas cylinders will be allowed to operate, he clarified.
Poojary further stated that the labour department has made arrangements for migrants labourers and the destitute to be housed in hostels and schools. Food to them will be provided in category A temples under the Muzrai department. Additionally, about 2500 Yakshagana artists will be provided aid by the State government. In case of any emergency, citizens can call the toll free helpline 1077.
Provisions are also being made to deliver items to people’s doorstep, an app for this purpose will be released, he added.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was also present during the meeting.
