Techie donates 5 quintals rice at collection centre set up by dist admin

Mangaluru: A Bengaluru-based software engineer donated 5 quintals of rice at the collection centre, , set up by the district administration, at Smart City building here on Monday, March 30.

The district administration had in a release said that donors can drop off groceries ( rice, dal, oil, pulses, jaggery, spices and vegetables etc) at the collection centre.

The grocery collection centre has been set up by MCC to ensure there is no shortage of daily essentials for people.

Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) commissioner has been appointed as the nodal officer of this collection center. In case of any query, people can contact on the toll free number 1077.

Mangaluru city commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde lauded the techie for his gesture.

Since last three days, the city of Mangaluru has observed a total bandh in order to contain spread coronavirus. The MCC is in process of arranging supply of essentials to doorsteps of residents.

Meanwhile shops will be allowed to function on Tuesday between 6 am to 3 pm and public have been urged to maintain social distancing while stepping out for purchases.
