Covid-19: Wenlock Hospital conducts trial run in new virology lab

Mangaluru: Wenlock Hospital has conducted a trial run of COVID-19 in the virology lab set up in the hospital on Thursday, April 2.

As of now swabs of suspected patients were sent to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences and had to wait for 48 hours for the results but the testing lab in Wenlock can help in testing patients’ samples in the district.

The virology lab has obtained necessary PCR kits needed to carry out the tests and lab has the capacity to conduct an average of 80-100 tests.

It is said that certain changes suggested by Indian council for medical research for running the lab has been made and effort is being made to obtain certificate for it as soon as possible
