Mangaluru: Mithun Rai, president of Dakshina Kannada district’s Youth Congress has filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court challenging the order passed by Kerala High Court instructing Centre to intervene and open the border between Karnataka and Kerala.

Rai stated that opening of the border could make people of the district and the state infected by the contagion by people travelling from Kerala to Mangaluru and other parts of the state.

He also added that Kerala is fairly developed state and can provide the necessary medical provisions to its people hence the border with the state must remain closed.
