Violation of lockdown: Police seize 175 vehicles on second day

Mangaluru: The city police on Friday, April 3 seized 175 vehicles for violating the rules. commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha had made it clear that the vehicles would not be allowed on riad and if there was a medical emergency he had asked the public to reach out to ambulance services.

On Thursday, April 2 the police had seized 154 vehicles and the saw a rise as on Friday, with the seizure of 175 vehicles.

Harsha on Thursday, April 2 taking to Twitter wrote, “Total ban on all movements of private vehicles, two-wheelers/ cars .. from 12.30 hours today… People can avail of ambulance services for emergency medical needs..Detailed advisory will be issued shortly by District administration..appeal everyone to cooperate.”

However, he later clarified that “Doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital administrators will be allowed to go in their private vehicle during their transit from home to the place of work… Media fraternity will be allowed if they have a valid pass issued by DIPR”

Commissioner had also shared a video on Twitter the complete details of the ban on private vehicles and wrote, “Complete details of the ban on private vehicles ..Don’t get your vehicles out..Avoid inconvenience.. Let’s fight COVID19 TOGETHER..”
