Mangaluru: Former MLA JR Lobo on Saturday, April 4 said that a taskforce committee comprising of Congress party leaders and activists has been created to control the spread of coronavirus.
The task force will assist the district administration in its efforts to tackle the pandemic.
With intention of helping people, the taskforce committee has been subdivided into 8 sub-committees namely for food, health, social media. etc. The task force will do its job in a responsible manner and advise the government on the ground issues.
A war room has been created. People can call and report if they have any issue, said Lobo.
“There should be no politics over coronavirus. This is a national disaster. In this time of crisis it is not necessary to wait for parties to arrive at unanimous decision to help people. Everyone must do their bit,” he added.
Speaking at the press meet MLC Ivan D souza lashed out at the government over non-implementation of plans during the lockdown period
“How can people survive if they do not receive daily essential regularly. The government said there was no need to pay EMI but the money is being deducted towards same. People are being charged for food at Indira canteen.
The state government must fulfill the assurances made by the Centre. Ration as promised must be given to people without discriminating between APL, BPL card holders,” he said.
