JDS MLC Farooq helps stranded Bengali workers in M’luru

Mangaluru: As many as 32 migrant workers, hailing from Bengal were stranded without food in Katipalla near MRPL here in Surathkal.

Ujjwal Pareek, convenor of the IT and social media cell of Bengal BJP highlighted their plight in a tweet and sought assistance for them from Vijetha Ananthkumar.

Following Pareek’s tweet, Vijetha got in touch with JDS leader BM Farooq and with his help arranged for food, groceries to be delivered to the stranded workers.

Meanwhile, Vijetha also stressed that the contractor should have provided the workers with meals.

The lockdown has severely affected the poor, needy and migrant workers as many of them are jobless. The government has urged migrant workers to stay where they are and is making provisions to provide them with meals.
