Covid-19 Testing in India: Here is what you should know

Covid-19 infections in India is said to have increased in the past two weeks. Government plans to double every three days the number of samples tested through RT-PCR process which is considered mandatory for accurate results.

Here is what you should know about Covid testing

When to get tested?

WHO says that one should seek medical attention upon experiencing fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Also, tiredness and dry cough are the other common indicators of the disease.

Also, you need to get yourself tested if you have undertaken international travel in the last 14 days.

How do I quarantine?

After testing, If you are advised to stay at home follow usual precautionary measures such as covering your coughs and sneezes and sanitising your hands, it is also important to get ample rest and keep yourself well hydrated. Also, monitor your symptoms closely and carefully. If your symptoms get worse, call your healthcare provider immediately.

How can I seek treatment?

If you start experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, give a call to Union Ministry’s 24×7 helpline number-01123978046 or you could also mail them at- [email protected].

Can I get tested at Private laboratories?

Only specified private labs are allowed to perform COVID-19 testes and it always better to go to government-run hospitals
