Covid-19: 100 KSTRC buses to be transformed into “Mobile Testing Labs”

Amid the rapid spread of Covid-19, Government transformed trains into isolation wards that can be deployed to remote and hard-hit areas of the country experiencing a shortage of hospital beds.
KSRTC has proposed to convert over 100 buses into ‘Covid-19 Mobile Testing labs’. The idea behind this is to take the buses to the Covid 19-infected areas and test them on the spot.
Also, out of the 30 districts in the state, only Mysuru, Hassan, Vijayanagar, Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bengaluru, Hubli and Mangaluru has Covid-19 testing centres and the suspects from the remaining districts depend on the testing labs of neighbouring districts. Hence, Mobile testing labs can reduce pressure on the existing labs.
KSTRC is now waiting for the approval of the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR).
