Bengaluru: State Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Jawaid Akhtar said that Karnataka is now ranked 11 th in terms of the number of cases and appealed the people of the state not to panic

Taking to Twitter, Official account for the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services – Govt. of Karnataka wrote, “‘Don’t panic’ Hon’ble Additional Chief Secretary appeals to the citizens.”

Meanwhile, in a statement, Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family welfare said, “Dear citizens, some time ago Karnataka was ranked 3rd highest in a number of COVID-19 cases. Due to the sustained efforts by team Karnataka and our health workers on frontline, we have been able to keep down the spread of novel COVID-19 virus to 207 cases till date.”

“Karnataka is now ranked 11 th in terms of the number of cases. But this has not made us complacent and our preparedness by way of Infrastructure, material required and Human Resources is to tackle even the worst-case scenarios,” the press note added

“Some TV channels have misinterpreted our submissions before Hon’ HC in which we have stated that we have assessed the demand assuming the worst situation in one month and initiated the process of procurement. This is being wrongly shown as if the Department estimates so many cases to come up. This is to clarify that the Health Department has not made any such assessment of the number of positive cases will be so high. This clarification is issued to quell any kind of fears or confusion amongst the public and with an appeal not to panic due to false news,” it further added.
