Tablighi Jamaat attendee ends life in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19

Mumbai: A30-year-old man who had participated in the Nizamuddin Merkaz event in New Delhi committed suicide by slitting his throat at a hospital in Maharashtra’s Akola after he tested positive for Covid-19.

The man a native of Assam had participated in the Merkaz event between March 6 and 8 and later arrived in Akola with other Tablighi Jamaat members.

The man had visited the hospital after developing Covid 19 symptoms a few days ago, said sources.

He tested positive for the virus on Friday evening and he ended his life by slitting his throat, reportedly with a blade inside the washroom of the isolation ward on Saturday morning.

Police have registered a case in this regard.
