Two Covid-19 vaccines have entered the first phase of human clinical trials and another 60 candidate vaccines are in pre-clinical studies.

According to the “DRAFT landscape of COVID-19 candidate vaccines” released by the World Health Organization (WHO) on April 4, two vaccines are currently being tested on humans.

Here are the things you should know about Covid-19 vaccines

The phase I trial that began focuses on the safety of a vaccine developed first, but researchers will also look closely at the nature of the immune response of the vaccines.

The vaccines are being tested on animals at the same time as humans.

Vaccines help a person to generate an immune response against an infection without first being exposed to the pathogen.

As they are given to large numbers of healthy people, vaccines usually have a higher bar for safety than drugs. With Covid-19 vaccines, the main concern is to avoid a phenomenon called disease enhancement, in which vaccinated

people who do get infected develop a more severe form of the disease than people who have never been vaccinated.

Sources claim, Researchers believe that people who have recovered from Covid-19 will be protected from reinfection for a period of time
