Udupi: DC readies containment plan for district

Udupi: District Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh on Sunday, April 12 presided a meeting to formulate a containment plan for the district.

Jagadeesh stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has been contained in the district and the three positive cases are all outsiders out of which one has completely recovered.

He explained the containment plan according to which, on detection of a COVID-19 positive patient, a 3-kilometre wide ‘containment zone’ and a 2-kilometre wide ‘buffer zone’ beyond the containment zone will be set up.

The containment zone will be set up in 2 hours and all other associate works of medical and control room will be set up in 4 hours.

The Revenue, Police and Health departments explained the measures and the staff that will be involved in setting up the containment and buffer zones.

Further, officials also stated that checkposts have been set up at all border crossings of the district with CCTV surveillance to prevent any entry of outsiders into the district.

Adding that passes not issued by other districts will not be valid for travel into the district.
