Dakshina Kannada: Status in sealdown areas of district

Mangaluru: The district administration had declared certain areas in the district as containment zones after COVID-19 positive cases were detected from there.
A sealdown has been declared in these zones, completely banning all movement of the people including leaving their houses.
In Ajjavara, Sullia taluk a one-kilometre containment zone has been set up on April 19. The zone stretches from Ankotimar Road and includes Forest agriculture land and the residences of Savera and Achar.
The taluk administration here said that they are working with various departments and ration shops to supply essentials to residents of the area.
More than 900 houses have been surveyed within 3 kilometres from where the COVID-19 positive case was detected.
Data was collected from individuals who had close contact with the COVID-19 positive patient, and sample have been collected wherever needed.
Sajipanadu village in Bantwla taluk was a ‘quarantine zone’ and now has been declared as a ‘controlled zone.’
Bantwal Taluk Panchayat’s Executive Officer Rajanna stated that presently no one is allowed to leave their houses, however, relaxation might be started from April 20.
In Janata Colony at Karaya village in Belthangady taluk, 88 houses have been kept under sealdown.
A 22-member COVID Service Team has been created for the Colony which is entrusted with servicing the residents with essentials items.
In Thokkutu, Ullal taluk, a Tablighi Jamaat event returnee was quarantined at his house. The entire area around his residence was sealed down for 28 days of which 15 days have already passed.
A WhatsApp group was created in which from the past 15 days residents of this area have been notifying the Town Council of their essential needs.
Tumbhe village in Bantwal taluk too was earlier a quarantine zone which was changed to controlled zone.
Lakshminagar in Sampya and Uppinangadi villages is under sealdown.
23 houses in the Sampya part of Lakshminagar and 5 houses in the Uppinangadi part of Lakshminagar are in the boundaries of the sealdown.
